Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive health care education with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat problems extending from common problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet commonly encounter.
