Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired wide-ranging health care instruction with a stress on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are studied to address complications extending from regular disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which furnish them the practical experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet typically encounter.
