Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired wide-ranging health care training with a main focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems varying from usual problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of countless issues which the feet typically experience.
