Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial medical instruction with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to care for complications ranging from commonplace problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
