Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care instruction with a focus on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to manage issues varying from basic afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which supply them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet typically encounter.
