Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant health care education with a concentration on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to care for problems extending from usual ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which provide them the skill necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
