Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care training with a main focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to handle concerns extending from normal conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience crucial to execute surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet typically experience.
