Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained substantial healthcare instruction with an importance on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are educated to care for complications ranging from simple afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet generally encounter.
