Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained substantial medical instruction with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat complications extending from common conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which supply them the expertise required to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet generally encounter.
