Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive healthcare training with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to deal with problems ranging from familiar afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which give them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent numerous troubles which the feet frequently experience.
