Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive medical education with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat issues varying from general conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience vital to conduct surgery on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet normally encounter.
