Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained extensive health care training with a focus on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat problems ranging from general ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the skill needed to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous issues which the feet typically experience.
