Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to address difficulties stretching from normal problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the prior experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against countless troubles which the feet regularly experience.
