Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive medical instruction with a focus on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to handle problems varying from general ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which give them the expertise required to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet typically encounter.
