Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired comprehensive healthcare instruction with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to address issues stretching from usual conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent a large number of troubles which the feet normally experience.
