Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical instruction with a stress on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to handle difficulties varying from usual problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent countless troubles which the feet generally encounter.
