Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable medical training with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address conditions ranging from normal problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the expertise vital to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against numerous troubles which the feet regularly experience.
