Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for issues ranging from usual disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the prior experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet usually encounter.
