Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant health care training with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are educated to care for problems ranging from simple ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the expertise vital to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
