Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical instruction with a concentration on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to handle problems ranging from conventional ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the experience vital to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
