Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive medical training with a stress on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle conditions ranging from standard afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet commonly experience.
