Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive health care training with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with difficulties extending from conventional ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet routinely encounter.
