Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive medical education with an attention to on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat problems ranging from simple ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the expertise needed to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of troubles which the feet commonly encounter.
