Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and several podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive medical education with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems stretching from general afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which give them the prior experience needed to carry out surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of countless conditions which the feet routinely experience.
