Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and actually quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive medical training with a focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to treat problems varying from regular afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which provide them the expertise needed to execute surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet regularly experience.
