Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical training with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to care for issues stretching from standard afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which give them the prior experience needed to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet usually encounter.
