Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and actually various podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical training with a main focus on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are qualified to deal with complications extending from simple problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many complications which the feet usually encounter.
