Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received significant healthcare instruction with a focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with difficulties varying from general conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which give them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet regularly experience.
