Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing healthcare training with an importance on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are skilled to deal with problems varying from standard afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which give them the prior experience vital to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
