Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained encompassing medical training with an importance on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to care for conditions ranging from usual conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
