Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable health care instruction with a focus on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat problems extending from typical problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet regularly experience.
