Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received substantial healthcare education with a main focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat difficulties stretching from general conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience required to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent a large number of problems which the feet normally experience.
