Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained encompassing healthcare training with a focus on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat problems stretching from regular ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the skill crucial to carry out surgery on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent many conditions which the feet commonly experience.
