Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial health care training with a stress on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are qualified to care for conditions extending from basic problems for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet usually experience.
