Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have acquired encompassing health care instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are studied to treat problems stretching from commonplace ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet normally experience.
