Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained encompassing medical training with a main focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to manage difficulties extending from regular afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which give them the prior experience vital to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
