Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant healthcare training with an importance on issues concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to deal with complications extending from normal ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which give them the skill required to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet regularly experience.
