Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care instruction with a concentration on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are educated to address difficulties extending from normal conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet frequently experience.
