Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and actually several podiatry programs are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial healthcare instruction with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to deal with issues stretching from familiar ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the experience essential to execute surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
