Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and actually many podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive health care instruction with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat complications extending from general disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which supply them the prior experience essential to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet generally encounter.
