Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and a number of podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing healthcare training with a focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to manage concerns ranging from familiar ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet routinely experience.
