Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received wide-ranging medical education with an importance on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat difficulties varying from usual problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise required to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
