Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Calgary North focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired thorough health care training with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to handle issues extending from standard conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet usually experience.
