Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare education with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to handle issues ranging from normal problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the expertise crucial to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
