Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received wide-ranging medical instruction with a focus on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat conditions ranging from standard ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet routinely encounter.
