Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for complications ranging from familiar problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience essential to carry out surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet normally encounter.
