Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors devote around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough healthcare training with a main focus on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to deal with conditions varying from familiar ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the experience required to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
