Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical training with a main focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to handle issues extending from normal afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which give them the experience essential to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent numerous issues which the feet commonly encounter.
