Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive healthcare training with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with issues ranging from standard ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet typically encounter.
