Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually various podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with an importance on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat issues varying from commonplace ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the practical experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet usually experience.
