Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical education with an importance on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to handle concerns extending from commonplace ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
